Simply put, John Kline can execute his vision in a variety of mediums. There's an honesty to the work that makes the experience of viewing less weighty. The work is entirely deserving, but there is an approachability to it; whether bold and shapely or stark and based on lines. A random Etsy search yielded his artwork. Whether oil on canvas or a woodcut relief print, the worlds depicted are always convincing. Any artist who can own various styles or mediums certainly impress us. Having spent some time in our hometown of Chicago, John is back home in Kansas City where he paints and make prints. On his Facebook page, he says, "I love all forms of art, " and his own artwork proves as much.
His woodcut relief prints offer a depth not commonly found, and his paintings are rich. The technical aspect of each is daunting, much less the ability to be so successful in each medium. From the intricacy of the woodcuts, to the immediacy of oil on a canvas, it certainly must be a labor of love. By taking a peak at his social presence, the oils seem to be winning out currently, and that's fine by us.
