Excuse Mathiole While He Paints the Sky

If one were attempting to define the feeling that overtakes us amidst falling in love, they could simply write, "see the work of Mathiole." Mathiole, a Brazilian illustrator and designer, has built a collection of work that is stunning and thought-provoking; it’s a fleeing escape into euphoria. Mathiole’s art, world and mind seem filled with hope and optimism. His work often intertwines words with art and their coalition spawns a beautiful message. Through Mathiole’s art you can see the world through rose-colored glasses and let me tell you - she is stunning. When you first dive into Mathiole’s work, it instantly catches your eye. It's vibrant, beautiful, interesting and it keeps you wanting more. It’s the ideal conquest. Then it starts talking, showing you pieces of itself. The soft touch of its watercolor, the body movement of the collages, the sharp eye of the graphics, and the smiling lines of the illustrations. You feel a punch in the gut. You’re left panting in a state of exasperated awe. The illustrations act as the fist. Mathiole’s drawings are pure and honest. They’re reminders of another time and place, perhaps real or perhaps imagined. It just gets better. Soon you're realizing that Mathiole’s work isn’t just beautiful, positive and everything you want in a collection of art, but it turns out it’s also cool. Seriously? I dare you not to drool over his real and fictionalized one-sheets and cover art for some of rock'n'roll’s greatest bands. Even then, you’ve not tasted the crème de’ la crème of Mathiole’s world. Wait for him to show you his Unic.Verse, an online illustrated banner that travels like a 1956 Jaguar Roadster on a summer afternoon. Mathiole describes his Unic.Verse as, “A union between my world and the way I see life, universe and everything else - my vision of the beginning and end of things, the future of mankind and the different paths my thoughts can take. A story told in one (and long) drawing.” This brilliant piece of art was drawn in a month’s time; and now you've reached the “I think I’ve fallen for you” moment. As a concierge of good art, and an all-around decent citizen, it’s my job to tell you: if you’re not checking out this guy's work, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Gift yourself 10 minutes. You deserve it. Go and get lost in the flourishing radiance that is Mathiole’s world. Sit beneath his night skies and feel the unarmed freedom. Safe travels!
