Motion is clearly central to David's colorful work, but the way his heart lives in multiple worlds is a trend we've been touching on quite a lot on IPMM lately. Old art-world labels are dying hard, and it's due to creative output like that of David Walker. His "visually rich portraits that fuse photo realism, abstraction and graffiti art sensibilities with a raw energy that comes from the medium," are incredible evolutionary works that truly redefine the terms we use, as well as the social boundaries attached to those terms, cliques, worlds. The fact that David has worked in public spaces has certainly had him blacklisted in certain spheres, but it's also bred a new genre of art event.

His portraits are brush-less, in that he's using spray paint for everything; questioning, not only in setting, but in technique, the typical confines of art segregation. David has shown worldwide, and can certainly be credited with contributing to a new genre of art, whose demographics are less rigid, and whose popularity is clearly growing. Hardline definition defenders are only doing so to preserve price point, but if you care about ideas, and new possibilities for art, then artists like David Walker are ones to remember.
